Introduction into Cardiovascular Pharmacology
Aim
The aim of this course is to (re-)consider aspects of classical basic pharmacology and to apply these in today’s modern cardiovascular pharmacology. The topics that are dealt with include not only receptor-pharmacology, autonomic pharmacology, signal-transduction and pharmacokinetics but also pharmacotherapy, nutraceuticals and the roles of genetically engineered animal models in today’s drug-related research. Finally the intimate interplay between basic pharmacological research and clinical pharmacological research will be addressed.
