Infectious Diseases

Aim

This course aims to inform PhD students about major infectious diseases, which are not necessarily within the scope of their own research. It provides general information about important pathogens, in respect of their microbiology, their detection, the diseases they cause, the epidemiology and public health aspects of these diseases, their interaction with host defense mechanisms, and modalities of treatment and prevention. The course also features lectures on “hot topics” in infectious diseases. CINIMA PhD students are required to attend this course during the first or second year of their appointment.
